Being back in South America is something wonderful. I didn't realize how much I missed hearing Spanish... Just in...everywhere. Sometimes I just stop and listen. And then I remember. Wholly smokes. I'm listening to a whole different language than my own... And I understand it. My brain doesn't even have to calculate the words or translate it into English. Nope. It's just an automatic makes sense. It's like us in English. We don't have to re-think about what the person said and then think of a way to say something back. It just flows out of us natural. And that's what always amazes me when I hear Spanish. That our human brain just understands these different languages and it all makes perfect sense. ... And me who only knows these 2 languages. Imagine all the brains of tri-linguals. Or those who know 4, 5, or 6 languages!
What are they genius! This week the speaker of the kids camp shared about his experience in the Marine force. He knows a guy who speaks 12 languages. Wholly Stromboli! What language does he even think in?! Imagine putting a sentence together but each word was from a different language. Mannnn. Skills.
--- I supongo that puedo do eso in espaƱol and ingles. ---
It's not that cool with just two languages.
Anyways. Besides me getting distracted by hearing another beautiful language. I guess I could say something about being here.
Saying bye to the fam in the airport was so fast to do all over again. Though I know this time I'm not leaving near as long as I did last time.. It felt as if I was... Probably because all the times I've left have been for longer periods of time so it's only what felt normal.
Then getting on the plane. I love flying. I'm so grateful the Wright Bros pushed forward until they got what they hoped for. The world is a changed place because of them. Imagine all the opportunities half the world would have missed out on by not being able to fly?
Besides random things popping in my head I could probably just finish what I was saying...
Flying in the plane--- I got off in Lima Peru after having an 11 hour layover in Panama. I realized that my brain wasn't really thinking Lima would be my destination. It's always been a layover point or passing through to get to Iquitos. But actually leaving the airport and traveling through this huge honkin city... Mmmm brain re-manage time.
My friend from Argentina picked me up, I stayed the first night in her house along with about 15 other people that came for the WOL (Word Of Life) camps. About 20-30 came from the Institute in Argentina. So it was great to see people I know super well from all last year.
Monday morning we all took a bus to Canetes. Which is about 2 1/2 hours from Lima. And this is where the camps happen!! Camp starts Monday until Saturday morning. About 250 campers come, and it's new campers every week until the end of Feb. A week here consists of Pool day, Mud day, Obstacle-courses day, Sports everyday, competitions between campers, teams, rooms. Morning and night services, afternoon small groups, meals in the cafeteria, chants all day long about who's going to win the whole week. And one on one discipleship with the campers. Well.. And much more. The staff and crew here is about 50 people all spilt into different areas. The first I got here they put me into theater-work which consists of making any of all costumes needed for skits, plays, and sewing anything and everything. Make all props to go on stage.
..... Annnnnd I don't have time to finish this so Ina just say we'll take an intermission here.
Instead of 20 minutes like a normal intermission... This'll prob be of 2 weeks.
Peace out Girl Scouts.
